Joe Mettle Is Not Bigger Than Any Gospel Musician In Ghana – Patience Nyarko

Ghanian Gospel Diva, Patience Nyarkoh has stated categorically on Radio360 90.1 and Empire Radio 102.7 entertainment show dubbed “Showbiz Today” hosted by Kweku Bee Abrante that, 2017 VGMA artist of the year, Joe Mettle, is not bigger or better than any other gospel Musician in Ghana.
According to her, although she hasn’t got any problem with Joe Mettle, it is imperative for others to think that, singing in English gives a musician an international appeal and makes one better than colleagues who sing gospel music in the local language to the extent that, apart from Joe Mettle there won’t be any Ghanian gospel musician available who can represent Ghana abroad.
She continued that language is never a barrier in music if not why will Nigerians and other countries make hits in other countries that speak other languages that are in the song?
“will Joe Mettle be able to sing again if the church of Pentecost and Methodist ban musicians from sampling their hymns?, let appreciate and celebrate gospel musicians who write their own songs like Daughters of Glorious Jesus, Yaw Sarpong, Nacee, Patience Nyarko etc and stop thinking that English is the only way to go”.
When asked whether she would like to take back her words she used on Joe Mettle on Onua FM that, Joe Mettle doesn’t deserve the hype he’s receiving and that he’s not gotten there yet, Patience Nyarko reiterated that everything she said is very true. She pleaded with Presenters to stop comparing Joe Mettle with the Top arts so that he will know there is more to do and eventually start writing his own songs rather than singing only Methodist and Pentecostal hymns.
